It doesn’t even matter. Read my posts. Don’t read my posts. Whatever makes you happy. It seems to me most people simply go along to get along. The Don’t rock the boat mentality is what keeps them going. Not making any waves. Just keep on living life as usual. Things like baseball, basketball and singing shows are the things that matter most. Obviously people haven’t had enough. It’s like being in an abusive relationship. A person will stay in it until they’ve had enough.
Middle Nation goes all in when discussing how being American is a condition. The way he lays it out is absolutely true and it makes sense. The US government has nothing but contempt and distain for US citizens, especially the poor ones. Poor White Trash: . . . Nancy Eisenberg, 2018, is proof, disdain for the poor isn’t a new concept. Even Benjamin Franklin had contempt for poor white trash. The book spells it out in no uncertain terms. Poor white trash from England were sent to the US and was how they got to be indentured servants where they worked alongside black indentured servants.
Many diabolical things have happened since then and now.
In all this time there has never been any sort of equality in the US. The Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution with all its amendments, several Civil Rights Bills enacted, but they all still beg the questions - Equality for whom exactly and equal to whom? Poor white trash certainly do not care to be equal to any non-white person. Least of all a black person. The racial bribe that came about after Bacon’s Rebellion, 1676, became the law of the land and poor white trash people have been sticking to that mindset ever since.
“At least I aint black!”, is what they tell themselves.
LBJ’s rhetoric about “giving poor whites someone to look down on . . . “ never left the psychic of white society and in 2025 the sentiment is as strong as ever.
A recent book Dying of Whiteness: How The Politics of Racial Resentment is Killing America’s Heartland, 2019, by Jonathan M. Metzl explains how dying of whiteness is a thing, as quiet as its kept. White people voting against their own interests and health concerns because they would rather blacks and other non-whites not benefit from anything.
Is that not an asinine way to think about things?
This brings to mind the 1998 film The Truman Show starring Jim Carrey, where Truman’s life is basically a 24 hour reality show. He is constantly being controlled. From his fathers death at sea, to the cold hearted woman he was probably forced to marry. It is an example of people going along to get along and how it does not take much to get most people to think a certain way. People are complicit even in the face of egregious wrongdoing. When Truman became resolute about what he felt was the truth in his heart of hearts, he was unstoppable. It boiled down to people standing up (in this case Truman) and saying No! to the guy who thought he was God. And it worked. One of the lessons in The Truman Show is to stop believing the lies and pay attention to what’s going on around you, then walk through the door.
In 2025, there are just too many people going along to get along.
The Truman Show movie was before the Matrix, the film that made us step back and think Hey, we’re being lied to! For 50 years before the Matrix, films have been priming the world for a time such as this. It’s been propaganda working as entertainment for all these decades. Now, in our Jetson-like society, high tech everything with bot’s, androids, Ai and things are worst than ever. All in the name of making things easier for humans. In reality they seem to be making humans obsolete and things harder for the humans trying desperately to hold on. If high tech is such a marvel why are there more homeless, hungry, unemployed people, and not just in the US, but the world?
So much for progress as the world gets better for a select few individuals who already have more than enough. And for all their stealing, it’s still not enough.
